Short Film Programs : DJ XL5’S Kaleidoscopic Zappin’ Party
DJ XL5 is back this year with his seventh program. You are once again invited to explore his strange universe and discover a wealth of irreverent and unruly shorts. You’ll find an international collection of short film, animated clips, TV-commercial parodies, fake TV shows and nutty trailers. Moreover, DJ XL5 is proud this year to have made room for the wildest creators in the province.
Come meet God (whose got a weakness for cheese curds), living-dead hamsters, a perverted grandpa, the hyperactive squirrel Foamy and a family of zombies “bien de chez nous.” You’ll encounter Tran, a Vietnamese child hounded by the omnipresent voice of the narrator, as well as a very unlucky guard dog, a completely insane Japanese animator and the world’s stupidest superhero duo. Meet the fearsome Lord Gardakan (The Battle of Farador) in all the splendour of his part-time job as a video-store clerk, and see what happens when Tintin and Zorrino face off.
There are no less than three world premieres is this year’s package : the latest of Esbark the Robot’s interplanetary adventures, the new infomercial from Kramtemps Productions, and the newest animated clip from the Road Kill Superstars team. And guess what? You can witness the only 35mm projection in Montreal of the latest from Don Herzfeldt (Rejected), called Everything Will Be OK. And let’s not forget the inimitable zappings insrted between the shorts!
In all, 30 films that George W. Bush, Stephen Harper and the Mayor of Hérouxville already hate, an ambitious, marathon experience over two hours long. As with every year, arrive early because XL5 is the only Fantasia programmer with a record of strating 15 minutes early!
