Don’t you hate it when your romantic getaway at the lake ends in dismemberment? Especially when the only thing you want is to spend some quality time with your girlfriend. You even bought THE ring. Yes, it sucks big time to be Todd. Too bad his douchebag bro Salinger, a wannabe porn star — sorry, “artist” — shows up unannounced at the family cabin with Masha, his sleazy Slavic girlfriend, to get wasted with a bunch of frat pals. Before the end of the first reel, there’s a bloody, accidental homicide involving a bottle of beer, a $300 pair of headphones and a good ol’ trusty axe. Could it be the hairy freak living in the woods? Well, before you can yell “L’chaim”, the place is swarming with cops who smelled blood, which has continued to flow unabated. You liked last year’s A LITTLE BIT ZOMBIE? You loved TUCKER & DALE VS EVIL (also presented at Fantasia, in 2010)? Well, COTTAGE COUNTRY gives you its Dale front and centre, played by bearded teddybear Tyler Labine (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, MONSTERS UNIVERSITY), as an insecure fellow who needs to duck plenty of pointy arrows.

From the producers of HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN, this black comedy also features Malin Akerman, the Silk Specter II of WATCHMEN fame, as Todd’s implacable future bride. Also starring are Dan Petronijevic (TODD AND THE BOOK OF PURE EVIL series) as the brother you love to hate, Brit actress Lucy Punch (Edgar Wright’s HOT FUZZ) as his trashy lady, Benjamin Ayres (FANTASTIC 4: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER, SMALLVILLE series) as Salinger’s old-school Jewish homie, and Sabrina Grdevich (A.I. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, SAILOR MOON series) as the FARGO-esque police officer. You even got some cool corpses apparitions à la AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON or PET SEMATARY. Groovy. Think of a lighthearted SHALLOW GRAVE in a VERY BAD THINGS way, set in the great Canadian wilderness. Until death do us part, as they say.
